“A small
step toward recovery is giant progress.”― Mark Cortes
Everyone can
always become better in one way or another; each of us has an area in our lives
that can be significantly improved. For some, this area might be an issue of
relationship, and for some; it might be an issue of health, while for others it
might be a matter of business. Though certain aspects of our lives can profit
from overhaul, I think every rational being alive wants to get a little bit better
at something of note.
However, a
number of people may choose to suppress at least one of these wants because
they have tried before and failed. And they now act as if ‘those wants’ are no
longer necessary. My friend, if you are among those people, I am here to tell
you that anything is still possible for you, IF you are still willing to give
it a try. Yes, ignore the past setbacks and begin again to rebuild your confidence
in yourself with the power of tiny actions and habits that I am about to share.
Experiences
and researches have shown that to transform our lives for good, tiny behaviours
are much more effective than giant steps and huge leaps. How to get big results
by going very small is the focus of today’s writing. So now is the time for us to
begin where we are and learn to grow into any outcome we may choose through the
power of little and easy-to-start, positive actions.
Rebuild
Your Self-Confidence with Repeatable Tiny Actions
A tiny or
an incredibly small action is not only easy to do but also effective and quite powerful.
Personal power comes from the doing of great things we all dream of achieving
one day. But it surely doesn’t come from merely wishing and talking about them.
Though we may sometimes realize this but the majority of us hardly benefit from
taking necessary actions. The challenge is, when the action is a little hard to
do, many people seem not able to get started and even many more people won’t maintain
momentum after starting.
Now, if the
deed is intentional made small, I think you will agree that it is quite easy
for almost anyone to not only start but also continue. This is exactly where
the power is: repeatability of activity, the essence of self-confidence. Moreover, the best way I know to
make that happen is through habituation and little by little is the magic
bullet of such a key-habit formation. So
design to make your actions tiny for the ease of starting and for the sake of confident
sustainability.
For
example:
Sales
If your
sales metrics are horrible, start now with one prospect; then continue to add
one more prospect on a regular interval, and you will be gaining the confidence
of a sales star, as time passes.
Physical Fitness
If you are
overweight, start a tiny exercise now; then continue to exercise in small doses,
and you will be gaining the confidence of a physically strong person, as time
passes.
On Learning
If you are
ignorant about a specific form of art or field of knowledge, start a tiny study
now; then continue to read a small portion every day and you will be gaining
the confidence of a scholar, as time passes.
However, the
most important point in this process is not the tiny step itself, but not
missing a session. This is the biggest deal of quite an easy
process. Why? Because, even though, a small action is easy to do, I have
discovered that it is even easier not to do. Insidiously, missing it now will
make easier for you to miss later. And many people will fail to get good for
this very reason.
Therefore,
a little self-discipline is still required for success with this tiny-power strategy.
So you must commit all the same. Please take this seriously and never allow
neglect to ruin your confidence. Beware that neglect is a great destroyer of self-confidence
and invariably, a subtle killer of any fruitful transformation.
Finally, if we can adhere strictly to the principle of not missing a single
tiny practice, then we shall soon prove to everyone (including ourselves) the
amazing power that tiny habits have, to transform our lives from mediocre to
good and from good to freaking awesome.
