Habits Are the Simple Answer

“You cannot change your future, {but} you can change your habits and surely your habits will change your future {for you}.”—Abdul Kalam

Do you have problems and questions on how to be a master of your time and finances?

Do you have problems and questions on how to stay on top of your game?

Do you have problems and questions on how to consistently deliver in creating value for yourself and others?

To radically tackle any and all of these situations, I say, habits are the answer; and this article is hopefully going to convince you of that.

The secret to everything we want in life is to be in control of our consistent actions. Based on this, it is hard to overemphasize the impact of our accustomed behaviours; which is why it is important to take charge of our actions before they coagulate into habits.

Once we get that settled, all else will change for good. And the simple way we can do that is to decide and make the change on how we live—on our lifestyle.

And my theme: “Habits are the answer,” is drawn from the insights of Napoleon Hill, the author of the powerful book, “Keys to Success.” In it, Hill explains the pervasive force of habit on every aspect of our lives.  On the magnitude of habits, he wrote:

“Habits are an important part of budgeting your time and money.

They are important to every principle in the science of personal achievement.

They are in fact, the KEYS to all personal achievements.”

Now, the question is, if you know and have the keys, why not use them to open all the doors you want to enter?

Unlock Your Elusive Goals with the Keys of Success

Habits—if carefully designed—are the keys to success and achievement. Accept this idea and implement the mechanics described in this article to unlock any puzzling goals you are yet to accomplish.

To start with, I say, know what is really important to you; and then SCHEDULE it into your day.  Give it a life of its own by creating a space for it to live in your daily agenda.

In other {embossed} words…

Fix a time for it. Fix a place for it. Never leave it to chance, never leave it to mood. And do it at that same time; in that same place; every single time.

Repeat this process long enough until it becomes second nature to you; and bam you have a habit that will serve you for as long as you want. This is the beauty of habit; it will foster unshakable consistency.

Starting anything has everything to do with motive but consistency on the other hand has little to do with motivation but everything to do with habit. That’s why the famous business philosopher, Jim Rohn said: “Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.”

Habits are the secret of top winners who are in complete control of their lives. We find those people awesome and admirable simply because of this often overlooked fact. Uniquely, they have learnt to build the right habits which keep them at their best everyday.

Curiously, if you are having questions and problems on how to perform like them; know now that habits are the secret of their incredible consistency, as English philosopher and scientist, Francis Bacon revealed in his counsel thus : “Choose the life that is most useful, and habit will make it most agreeable.”

Consequently, design for yourself a desired lifestyle based on your important goals and make a habit of those goals by doing something on them every day. The good habits in turn will make your work—no matter how demanding—quite congenial until those goals become an effortless reality.

Finally, to solve the puzzling problems and questions of self-improvement and personal effectiveness for someone who feels overwhelmed and stuck, I say once again: habits are the simple answer.
