“Good character is not formed in a week or a month. It is created little by little, day by day. Protracted and patient effort is needed to develop good character.”_Heraclitus
Today, the only thing I have to share are few wise words on the nurturing and formation of good character.
Virtue is the source of all good, personally and collectively, so it is important that we give it the supreme attention it deserves in our day to day activities.
Now let’s hear from the masters.
“Character is like a tree, and reputation is like its shadow.”
Abraham Lincoln
“Greatness is not found in possessions, power, position, or prestige. It is discovered in goodness, humility, service, and character.”_William Arthur Ward
“The proper time to influence the character of a child is about a hundred years before he is born.”_William Ralph Inge
“It is our choice of good or evil that determines our character, not our opinion about good or evil.”_ Aristotle
“In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock.”_Thomas Jefferson
Don't try to be different. Just be good. To be good is different enough.
Arthur Freed
What you do speaks so loud that I cannot hear what you say.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Finally, as the last quote shows, character has little to do with our talks but much to do with our actions and behaviours.
So, let’s try to be the change we yearn to see in the world, every day of our lives.
